Can you use the stock early 944 rear spacers on a 951?
I have always thought the stock rear wheels on the 86' 951 sat in too far from the body, so can you use the early 944 factory rear spacers on the back? I think they are 21mm if I remember correctly. Would this help/work on the back of an 86'?

The answer is about he same as what you need to mount late offset wheels to an early offset car. The part numbers for that change are listed below....
Keep in mind that this is from several years back, so the pricing may have changed...
Wheel Shopping List for mounting late model wheels on 86 951
The wheel offsets are stamped right on the wheel. As for putting post-'86 (late-offset 52.3mm) wheels on your '86 car (23.3mm early-offset) here's a parts list:
FRONT WHEELS
#911.331.671.00 (10) 65mm wheel bolts (stock is 45mm) ~ $5/ea
#477.501.701 (2) two 21mm wheel spacer (came stock on rear of '82-85 944NA) ~$25/ea
REAR WHEEL
#901.331.671.01 (10) ten 72mm wheel bolts (stock is 45mm) ~ $5/ea
#930.331.611.04 (2) two 28mm wheel spacer (used on rear of 911-turbo) ~50/ea
OPEN-ENDED LUG-NUTS $20 total
The whole set-up should cost you about $270. When you want to put your stock wheels on, just remove the spacer and use the open-ended lug-nuts.

Good info guys. My concern wasn't about putting late wheels on my car, I was just hoping to push the rear wheels out a bit more. Looking at the back of the car everything looks good until you see the wheel sitting too far in compared to the nice flared quarters. I am tossing around the idea of getting new wheels with a proper offset so I don't need spacers, or keeping my phone dials and making them look a little bit better. I knew the early cars had those rear spacers on there and I wasn't sure if they just stopped putting the spacer in during the mid year change.
