I had Porsche of Princeton do a PPI on my recent 90 S2 Cab purchase...they did not do a good job or even an ok one. Fist I am over 250 miles away so it was inportant to have an idea of the condition of the car before I drove that far to look at it. They basicly told me that this was a very clean car and that every thing looked great except that the AC blew hot. I looked at the car drove looked great and with a clean PPI I bought it. I get home and take it to my shop for some little things and a qucik look over as well. These are the things they found that Porsche of Princeton did not:
Leaking valve cover gasket, Rear CV boots torn, clutch hose rubbing on steering shaft and worn, oil cooler hose slight leak, engine mounts worn, bell housing bolts loose, steering shaft has some play, all rear fuel lines are dryroted and hard, bent left rear wheel.
Not to mention a couple of items that I picked up on that Porsche of Princeton did not. Not only was this a waste of $300 but I could have taken this information into account when deciding on the purchase.

I had very similar experience at my local OPC here in Newcastle UK last year.I complained but people just made excuses and tried to pass the buck.I took it to Customer Assistance at Porsche
Uk - same story.Lesson learnt - find a stand-up independent mechanic and treat him well!

One problem with having the dealer do anything on a 944 family of cars, the newest ones are nearly 15 years old. The average owner isn't going to have a dealer service them. As a result, the number of wrenches at the dealer that know much about them is declining rapidly. If you want a really good PPI on this series car, you're better off going to an independent shop.

I think at a minimum you are entitled to the money you paid them. If on a credit card I would dispute it. They failed to deliver what you paid for!

Have your local shop write up everything they found and send it to them along with a notice that you are disputing the charge on your credit card. Sounds like many of the issues were fairly obvious. I wonder if they did anymore than take a quick peek under the hood and drive it around the block.

The type of problems the OP is experiencing should have been picked up during the PPI, regardless of the dealer's experience with the 944 series cars. Leaky gaskets, bad CV boots, rubbing hoses, dry rot, bent rims, etc. are not model specific.
