Hi Raceboy, your information was great it has helped me with the logic of what I am doing, spoke to the EMS folks today after what you have shared and I think we are on the right track - many, many thanks for your info and taking the time to reply.

Just to close off this thread for any other people with the same problem, the answer for me was actually offset = 19.5 teeth, as I can only enter full numbers I set it to 19 and the car starts and runs great.
So in summary missing tooth is 58.5 degrees BTDC, crank takes 2 turns for engine cycle so each tooth is 3 degrees engine, 58.5/3 = 19.5 teeth.
After a couple of months of on road tuning I cant tell the difference between factory ECU and my standalone EMS, a perfect result for me as my goal was to get the standalone to work just like factory off boost and having full control when on boost.
I'm still slowly mapping fuel & ignition on boost at the moment, taking it nice and easy, no melted pistons needed!!
