My car has a slight gap, here are a few pics of the side, and also a picture of an origional european 944 S2:

I'm not anywhere near my car right now, so I can't exactly measure it. It doesn't seem all that different from yours. I don't think it was designed to fit flush with the body. That would cause a pretty nasty rub spot. Did you get the correct passenger side mount with the threaded hole for the towing eye?

Thanks for the info Darwin. That makes me worry a little less.. .

The bumper i got is from a n/a 944 and does not have the provision for the tow eye in it.

Sorry. I tossed it about a week ago. On the up side, it would have been a pain to install, as several of the mounting studs broke off when removing the strip.

Yeah, mine doesn't either. I bought it from 944online.com. They had the correct passenger side mount, but wanted extra for it so I opted against it. It looks great on your car btw! I'm really sorry the f$#ked it up on the way over tho. Your car looks great, and I like everything you've added to it!

Darwin,
If you want a correct mount so you can use the rear tow hook, send me a PM.

A little patience with some fiberglass & resin and that can be repaired. As for the gap, same on my car. I suspect it is intentional.

not to get off topic but what exhaust is that? Are you gonna cut down the tip some to make it flush?

I just bought a fiberglass repair kit from Bondo and it actually looks really simple to do it. I was thinking of seeing what i can do with it on sunday. My friend called me back and after looking at the pictures said it would be a piece of cake, ill have to wait until the end of the month when hes back in town again unfortunetley.

The exhaust is the SFR 2.5 inch catback. The tip does stick out past the bumper, but not far enough me to warrant doing anything about it.

And on a side note, i weighed everything with a bathroom scale. The euro bumper and two hardmounts weight in at aprox. 13 lbs total!

The aluminum bumper and end caps is 25 lbs, the two bumper shocks are another 5lbs each. Thats 35lbs total

Total weight saved is 22lbs hanging far off the rear axle.

Mine has a gap too.

Mine is a 944 bumper like yours and has no provision for a tow eye. I've been trying to get some good pics and dimensions of the factory tow eye that is mounted to the right rear shock on Cup Cars so that I can duplicate it exactly (I gave up trying to find one). It mounts below the bumper and sticks out and back a little bit. You can just make them out in photos of Asarus' car and other euro cup cars. I've asked Seb a couple of times and haven't heard back. Unfortunately the only two cup cars that I have been close to in the last couple years have been North American versions with the US spec bumpers.

The stock exhaust does stick out noticeably further with the euro bumper. I can live with it but it does show the wear & tear on the original (230K miles) chrome tip. I may spring for a new one from 944online.

Hey Jeremy, i need to work on finding a 968 spoiler or maybe get lucky and find a cheap adjustable Turbo S wing. That looks great.

Mike M, how do you go about modifying the mounting point on the bumper? Elongate the bolt holes? It seems like the gap on mind is a bit more than what i am seeing in the pictures, i could be wrong though...however i would still like to minimize the gap a little more.

Tomrrow i am going to take it off and have a go at fixing the fiberglass. I just need to grab some plastic clamps from work so i can hold the broken piece to the bumper. I am going to repair it and just use touch up paint for the time being. I am repainting my hood in a few weeks and figure ill shoot the bumper at the same time.

Success! I bought a fiberglass repair kit and experimented a little this morning. Came out great i think. I repainted the cracked section with touch-up paint for the time being, going to respray the entire bumper when i do my hood in a few weeks.

I filled in the low spot of the crack with Bondo spot putty and sanded it smooth. I still need to figure out how to close the gap between the rear quarter and the bumper. Its significantly larger than the ones in the pictures. I think i just need to elongate the bolt holes a little. Ill save that for next week.

Total repair cost.. less than $25.

and I'm bumping this up for pics of my Euro Rear bumper, now complete with strip thanks to cantal10!

I asked for pics of the mounts since mine is a reproduction from A.I.R. and it has fiberglass "mounts" that are actually pretty sturdy.
Its going on the car tonight, more pics later.
