944S Tachometer
I tried this on the racing site, and got no response. My tachometer does not work on my 944S. I have checked the wiring diagram on the CD manual, and can't find the tach wiring. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

I got my 85.5 tach to work by changing out the computer. do you have access to another 87 944S CPU?
In trying to fix mine i cleaned all the contacts on the grounds and check the speed/ref sensors.

Actually, I do have an extra CPU. It came with the motor, that I bought at a wrecking yard. The Reference senors are entirely different on a 944S.
Thanks for the tip, I will try it tomorrow.

sure thing, also you may want to remove the gage cluster to see if one of the three plugs are loose. They also may need cleaned up a bit. did it used to work then just stop? or did it work when you tapped on the cluster?

I hasn't ever worked. I bought the car as a tub, and the engine from a wrecking yard. I have tapped on it, with no luck. The oil pressure and water temp work, but the fuel guage, and the tach don't work. Also the oil level light doesn't work, but the pan on the engine doesn't have the sender for the oil level, so I will just disable the oil level light. Tomorrow, I will try the new CPU first, then take the cluster off and try the rest. I'll let you know tomorrow night.
Thanks again,
Bill
