Sorry, must have been mixing my stories... there were lawsuits in the '80s that resulted in a mandate for automatic transmission "shift locks."

Either way... the point regarding the sensor failure of the new Lexus still stands.

I'm sorry to interfer with you obsession with a Lexus (with the big L on front for LOSER) and historical events about Audi. Did you cats forget your ritalin today or are all 4-bangers guys so random?

One and the same lawsuits. Drivers would shift into gear, step on the pedal they thought was the brake, but was really the gas pedal. As the car surged in whatever direction, they'd step on that same pedal harder. Next thing you know, car through a garage or whatever. Happened to other makers as well but just so happened that some lawyer managed to convince audi owners that it wasn't they're fault, that the car could somehow mysteriously overpower it's brakes, and sued.

Then 60 minutes rigged an audi to "fail" with immense hydraulic pressure that would force the transmissoin into a gear. They also did something to the braking system to allow the car to take off. They were exposed but by then the damage had already been done to Audi.

So now all auto's have shiftlocks to moron proof them.

I'm sure the lexus self parking system will default to off if any single sensor fails.

Andre - if you want any assistance checking the car out later this week let me know. I don't have anything to do so I'd be glad to come and take pictures and whatnot.

Down boy. I chimed in on another member's off-topic comment.

Ninefiveone... interested. I have heard of the tirades by Wallace and the 60 Minutes fabricators, but I haven't heard of such info with regards to the Audis.... that's wild!

I wouldn't assume Lexus's system defaults to "off" in case of sensor failure. A sensor failure could likely fail by simply not detecting something in the way!

Bill,

My wallet is broken with the 928's. I saw this cherry car and found it for sale, and before it hits autotrader, I wanted to give the guys here first crack at it. Come on by and we can look at togather, there are now 4 guys how have sent me their info to forward.

Friday or Saturday the OO is going to take the cover off her for viewing.

Cheers,

Cool, pm me whenever you're going over and I'll come tag along. I work friday night, but otherwise I should be good to go.

And Juan occasionally shows himself on the 951 board, but not really the general 944 one.

Well, those didn't exist in 1986 either, at least for the US market.
