The system works the other way around; Power is supplied to the guage, then grounded through the sender. The resistance of the sender changes with the oil pressure, which results in a reading. You need to figgure out why you don't have power to the guage first, then worry about the wire to the sender.

I can supply power to the gauge... problem is i dont know where to put it. There is a bl/bk wire that I'm assuming is the power as the brown is normally ground and the bl/wt is the wire from the sender.

Sound reasonable? Do i need a fuse or will steady 12v power work?

Odds are i removed a fuse or relay that was powering the gauge.

ok, so I'm bringing this up yet again.

I'm looking at the gauge now and I have my volt meter with me. There are three wires going to the gauge, blue/white from the sender marked with a G, Black (I'm assuming 12v power) marked with a +, and a brown wire marked with the ground sign.

So I have the voltmeter out and the only one that show 12v is the blue/white gauge. However, i thought this was the wire from the sensor and does not power the gauge? I tried hooking up power to the black (from my fans) and that didnt work either.

So anyone have any ideas? Would someone mind pulling their OP gauge and telling me what should be what?

thanks!

EDIT:
I checked the sender and thats working fine.

For RL-search reference sake, here's a clip of an AIM convo...

TRB0GUY (1:17:20 PM): ok, I'm looking at the diagram now...
TRB0GUY (1:18:02 PM): black sends the power to the gauge
TRB0GUY (1:19:51 PM): black/white is the signal to the gauge from the sender
TRB0GUY (1:20:49 PM): blue/black trips the oil pressure idiot light
TRB0GUY (1:21:08 PM): from the sender, naturally
TRB0GUY (1:21:39 PM): and the brown wire at the gauge is the common ground for the instruments (basically completing the illumination circuit)
TRB0GUY (1:22:30 PM): the green/brown wire at the gauge is the positive illumination end

TRB0GUY (1:23:23 PM): so for your purposes, unless you're racing at night and need the light, the brown, green/brown. and blue/black wires are none of your concern
TRB0GUY (1:23:59 PM): what you need to do is test the resistance and connectivity of the black wire from the gauge to the battery positive
TRB0GUY (1:24:46 PM): then check the same connectivity of the black/white wire from the gauge to the sender
TRB0GUY (1:25:02 PM): if they both check out, then you need a new gauge
TRB0GUY (1:25:11 PM): ...or your sending unit has crapped out

That should clear things up
