Non galvinized body panels mainly, and they are the oldest and usually most in need of serious work to the floor boards.

I would never mess with any of the 4 speed cars frankly. Bare minimum a 924 NA needs to be an 81 or 82 in my book, turbos too but an 80 turbo is still OK but the gearbox is not my cup of tea.

It hasn't aged as well as the music from that era...

I thought Porsche was galvanizing their cars from 1977>onwards?

If so their process and results were awful. I've seen many a 924 with the footwell rotted out across the front of the entire cabin. Fenders too, and rarely see any rust on the later ones. Only when the galvi has been comprimised by impact or a PO thinking it was cool to strip the car down to bare metal and repaint.

Maybe it was an evolving process, but I'm pretty certain it started with the 77MY cars acrossed the line. I've seen 1978 911SC's that were galvanized that still had tons of bad rust issues. They must have perfected the process as time went on.

recently i spotted an old 924 sitting in a yard not far from me, so i pulled in and asked about it. the owner wants rid of it as soon as possible (i could take it away for less than 100). now, i don't really like the 924 but i love the 944.

would it be worth my while picking up this old crock, stripping it out and trying to convert it into a 944? are there any major differences besides the drive train, running gear, quarter panels, and front wings? is it possible to put a late model 944 interior into a 924? could i get much money back on the old 924 parts?

cheers for any input,

just tear it all apart and put as many 968 suspension parts on it as you can and a v8 inside, and a 951 body, cool car then
