Has anyone considered the STS turbo system which is located in the rear of the exhaust train, thus not affecting ps or ac?

For whatever it's worth, while I also subscribe to the "just buy a 951" principle, I can understand why people would want to do impractical projects like this. Whether it be because of sentimental attachment to the car (hell, I'm planning on buying another 944 for track flogging for no other reason than to spare my current one!), the thrill of the project or just to have something different, there are plenty of reasons why someone may choose to do the impractical.

After all, since when are our passionate hobbies ever really practical...?

There's something far more elegant about a turbo than a supercharger anyway.

A turbo turns what is otherwise a waste product into power. A supercharger robs power to create more power. Both are cool in their own way, but I think from an engineering efficiency standpoint I always admire the turbos more.

ever hear of back pressure? there is no magic solution that takes wasted power to make more HP, although BMW does use the heat to make steam power in current cars, bottom line is that the engine has to work to push and heat the exhaust just as it has to work to spin the pulley.

the efficiencies of modern turbos are about the same as modern superchargers

one thing I'll say is that there is no belt to break in a turbo

if I were to do a supercharger I would get a low compression 951 engine and put it onto that engine use this supercharger:

http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...obra03_28L.htm

this super charger will go up to 26psi and up to 1000HP if your engine will support it.
