Hey, I resent that!!! I must say it does **** me off that I would have to pay a premium to buy D90s for a car that they were meant for. I'd love to have a set...
There were a few VW haters tonight on the Northway (87) tonight as I blasted past them in my Jetta through thick fog w/Bosch amber fog lights... it was like driving mid-afternoon.

Okay, here's my perspective. [FLAME SUIT ON]
I think someone should have the right to put Porsche wheels, or Porsche handles and such if they own a Porsche, and are forbidden to use those parts on the Porsche. Like me. I own two VW's that can use the Porsche script handles, and d90's and such, but I don't. Even though everyone else in the family has a Porsche, I don't do it. I am not afraid to say so on Vortex, and i've been flamed many times for bein such a ****.
I do however would love to do the whole shebang and drop a 928 engine/drivetrain/interior in a rabbit. *DROOL* Lastly, I must say this. Porsches are very stylish and sweet. And maybe if a Dubber would to use non-rare items such as cookie cutters or repro fuchs on their dub, wouldn't that be a form of flattery??
I personally want to have a bastard car. A mk2 gti with a Corrado VR6 engine, widened steelies (14x8), and a 300ZX hood scoop. Mmmmmmmmmmm, tasty

Same could be said of 944 guys that buy 968 parts and slap them on their "inferior" cars. Do the 968 guys get p.o.ed? Don't think so.
Hell, I have 911 RSA seats in my 951. . . I haven't heard of any 911 guy getting upset with me over it.

You guys are crazy... Vdubbers have just as much right to put Porsche wheels on their car as anyone else. Same with Porsche script handles.. although door handles that say "porsche" dont really match. Still its their car and their money.

You know what I hate more than VW owners... VW owning brothers.
You guys are misunderstanding my point. I'm not saying they don't have the right to use whatever parts they want, I'm just complaining that it's unfortunate for us, since they eat up our stock. Plus, I'm criticizing their poor taste. Sure, phone dials or whatever could look cool on any car, but it's when they use the porsche center cap, or the porsche script handles, or anything else that has the logo of a different car, that I don't like. I'm not saying we should make it mandatory to show a porsche's pink slip when buying parts, I'm just complaining!

Another comment on a Dubber I know, if it adds weight to his Scirocco, it ain't going on. If it don't make it quicker/faster/handle better, it ain't goin on. This guy's Rocco is down to right at 1800lbs with his skinny butt and a 1/4 tank of gas. His 0-60 is in the low 5 range with the 16v engine. His idea of stereo is a pocket MP3 player with ear buds that fit under his helmet.
I had no Porsche parts on it, (they're too heavy )

I also had a 89' 16v gti with a vr6 motor in it. Vary fast and sounded awsome.
I sold it and in 1 month, the kid totalled it.

All VW/Audi/Porsche stuff was inbred for many years anyway, so I don't see the harm in mixing and matching stuff. I think Phonedials and Cookies look better on VW Golfs than they ever did on 944's anyway.
And who doesn't like this?

I'll second the post that said "a car guy is a car guy." The VW guys I know are generally really dedicated, technically competent guys who are really and truly car-obsessed.
They always want to help turn wrenches, too. I mean, an engine swap is a common mod for them...like putting bigger sways on a 944 is for us. That's awesome!
I say that if you can afford the parts you can slap them on whatever car you want. The 924 started out as a VW project...there is certainly some precedent for parts to go the other way. Besides, a MkII Golf looks great lowered on D90's.
