As soon as I get the money. I'm doing this too. And I'm doing that wood shift **** thing you made. That thing is crazy! I love it. Plus, my Dad owns a cabinet shop. So I'll have all the tools I'd need. Unless you start selling them... If you do. Let me know.

the leather airbag was originally grey. got it from L.A. Porsche for 500. the cf wheel was 100 on craigslist because it had a tiny crack in it, and the owner wanted a new one from Europe for his 996 turbo s... i changed it from grey to black with SEM satin black. it came out perfect. you would never guess in a million years that either my dash, doors trim or airbag were once grey.

well the good news is there's so many 996s blowing up that there'll be more airbags available soon in your color...
as for the crappy pics of my interior i posted on the last page... getting the new all-black, carbon 997 turbo gearknob installed soon for the 968... the linkage is going to require a bit of fabrication.
i just got my alpine bluetooth system installed at Car Audio of Ocala, Fl. what an awesome crew running the shop there... i was able to upgrade the 4" speakers in the doors to really beefy 5" units (which are now playing north of 300Hz)) and really nice tweeters...
the midbass drivers behind the doors were also upgraded significantly... and now we're buliding the sickest subwoofer cabs into the rear quarter chambers to accommodate the 8" addictive audio subwoofers. not going to lose virtually any interior space at all. running it all with 1 4X150 amp for the door and midbass speakers and a single 700 watt monoblock for the subs. all the audio for just south of 4 grand. i'll get new pics up soon.

Also not so big of a deal at this point, after reading a bunch of the stuff on here last night it appears I can get anything I wanted covered in grey from the dash and door panels (I already have two sets of grey panels ) to the steering wheel and airbag.

Just a quick question for gregeast. I have a non-functioning airbag on my steering wheel since I did a dash swap. So would I be able to get away without the clock spring?

Right. So as long as the wheel physically fits over your current clock spring and you can hook the horn up then you're good to go.

The OP wanted to keep the airbag though, and you can't do this with a 930S wheel.
This is the only pic I have.It is a little bleached out from the flash, but everything is black.

Perhaps a dumb question:
I use my iPhone as a stereo headunit, car telephone, and car navigator on my 1986 NA 944 and 1992 928 GTS. Both cars have a non-airbag PORSCHE GT2/MOMO Steering wheel on which it is very easy to mount a iPhone, giving easy access to the iPhone menu even while having both hands on the steering wheel.
But I can not see a way for passing the wiring through the steering column for powering the iPhone and transmitting the audio signal (I use iSimple IS76 iPod/iPhone Interface Cable). I tried connecting a power supply (GRIFFIN PowerJolt SE) for the iPhone in parallel with the horn button, but the power drawn by the power supply is enough to trigger the car horn.
Does someone known how many connections are passed through the Contact ring/Slip ring/Clock Spring? gregeast's photo on page 3 of this post, shows four (4) wires: green, green/braun, brown, and brown/white. I assume, brown (positive) and brown/white (ground) are for the car horn, and green (positive) and green/braun (ground) are for the airbag. Is this correct? Does anyone sees a problem installing such a Contact ring/Slip ring/Clock Spring on a non-airbag car and using green and green/braun for powering a iPhone mounted on the non-airbag steering wheel? (For the audio signal, I will try Bluetooth (BELKIN Bluetooth Music Receiver or GRIFFEN BlueTrip))
Thanks.
