Default turn signal problem

When I turn on my signals the light on the dash comes on ( not blinks) and my taillights do nothing - same thing for emergency flashers - BUT when i take the key all the way to the left, the flashers do work.

Ideas?

I had a similar problem but did not do anything to my dash and it was the binker relay under the hood. So check the relay.

I second the relay. Also check grounds, and connections at the lights.
