A number of GTO owners have GNs as well. some are not happy with the IRS in the GTO and either had it swapped for a solid axle or went back to a TA or GN.

Sure the GM interior is crap. But is the dash cracked porsche interior much better?

Sure it rattles, but what delaminating 944 hatch doesnt rattle?

Sure the seats offer no lateral support, but what 944 can haul five adults comfortably?

I think the GTO is the best of both worlds. stump pulling performance with the ability to take a turn at speed. if only the shfiter had shorter throws and the steering ratio was quicker.

I already miss my GTO and it hasnt been 12 hours since it left to its new home. My wife says I missed a beautiful moment when my friends son came over last night to pick it up with his dad. But we all had those moments when we picked up our dream car be it a beater 944 or a pristine GTO or a GN or a TA or whatever.

Good luck getting that. It is more like 29K, and im not sure you get the 0% AND the rebates.

Two or three weeks ago i could have gotten one for invoice less 1000 in gm card bonus less 1000 conquest less i think 1000 in gm rebate and it didnt have 0% less my gm card earnings.

When I did my deal in december 04 there was a 5500 rebate and the GM card rounded my 975 of earnings up to 5000 and the dealer sold it to me for invoice less 500.

You mean 0-60 and not top speed, right? In '87 the 928S4 was the fastest (top speed), production car in the world.

I haven't read this thread but I am going to. I owned a Regal T-type (same drivetrain as GN) back in the 90's. The T-Types are lighter cheaper and more rare than the GN's. I did two very cheap mods. to the car. Cat bypass w/dump plate and a chip, $50 each. The car was an absolute beast in a straight line. It ran mid 12 sec. 1/4 miles with slicks. It also had about 135k miles on it. As far as the motor goes, the short block is not the same as the standard non turbo Regal. Some day I plan on getting another one. Preferable with the WE4 (GN Look) package.

I'll second that, it is like taking 75% of the rigidity out of a car that is already loose. There are those who like them, a guy came to Indiana from Texas to get mine...just because it had the T-Tops. go figure.

Better as in "The Earth makes a better home to humans than the sun".

Because the dashes crack you compare the lamest interiors ever made to some of the finest? Man, what a REACH! I'm yet to see a GM interior that hasn't looked like it had been glued together by Tonka, Hasbro and Acme. (Yes, I sat in your Goat, and I said to myself "I almost could live with this" )

Yes, the new Vette is astounding performace at a price point. The interior is still grossly subpar. Sit in anything European, and then anything big-3. They just don't get it!

Hey, don’t take my word for it. Look it up in Guinness, +170mph at Boneville and over 180mph in Italy. That same car is still around and is driven/raced by a rennlister.

Yes they look like they were glued together, but looks can be deceiving. I bet there isnt any glue there.

Yes the interiors were lame. But most cars of that era look lame by todays standards.

The cars were of subpar quality is a fact borne out by toyota and honda's success.

The GTO was/is bolted together really nicely. nice solid sound to the door when it closes, straight tight gaps, etc. It is less plasticky than some of weissachs finest more recent offerings that cost significantly more.

So how the heck do i get the coverlay to lay like a cover on the 89 NA? The sucka is popping up over the instrument cluster. i want to remove the windshield so i can put some small self tapping screws in to hold it down.

Was it R&T or porsche that advertised the 928 as the fastest 0-100-0 car? That was an impressive test i would like to see done on every car they test.

yeah turbobob has the GN motor in his but i believe it may have started life as a 924, but wouldnt bet large beer on it. bob is a nice guy, did the fest with me and drove my car while i used the nav system, etc. i have Dan P to thank for an addiction to sudoko now since the fest.

completely agree on big three interiors. they are mostly hideous.
