Hi ,
My 83 944 has the climate control fan switch stuck on full. Does the switch only need to be replaced or does the entire climate control assembly need replacing? Is this a common occurance? If anyone has pictures and part numbers that would be great.
Thanks,
Darcy

This is not common. Describe the situation a bit - is your **** still attached? Will it still turn left and right? Do you hear/feel clicking as you turn it?

My car is a N/A without A/C.
The situation is the fan (blower) switch **** does not turn at all leaving the fan blowing on maximun. The switch will not move to level II or level I. There is no clicks or sounds of anything as the switch remains stationary. The **** is still attached and nothing seems broken. I just don't know what to test for to see if the switch is stuck or in need of replacing.

The multi position switch behind the bezel has melted. This is due to the fan motor bearings starting to seize up. The switch can be replaced. The fan motor needs to be disassembled and the bearings replace.
Do not confuse the mostly mechanical fresh air controls on an early 944 with the pneumatic and electrical controls on the later 944's.
