Default How to open glovebox...

And any other stupid questions anyone wants to ask/answer here...

My new project car has a stuck glovebox. Meaning you push the button and nothing happens. The guy I got the car from said you had to pry it open, but the latch seems in tact and I don't want to break it by prying on it. And I don't have any shop manuals at the moment. So does anyone know a quick trick to open this thing without damaging it?

Also, where the cig lighter should be, there is something that looks like a light. I can't take a pic right now because my camera went kaput. But it fills the hole, and looks like it has a red lense. It's convex and almost looks like the front of a camera. Shift light maybe? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Russell

one tip is maybe to pull the door outwards (towards you) and push down.. If you push the top of the door inwards it sets the latch even more.. Just a little tip that might work.

I know this because mine falls open if i don't give it a nudge inwards after closing it.

i sometimes do a sideways hand "karate chop" to my button if it gets stuck. works after the first or second "chop" usually.

LOL!!

yep, mine's a '86 just like my old one, it's a button. But nothing happens when you push it, and I've fiddled with the key in it trying to 'trick' it into opening, I'll try some kung fu on it tomorrow....
