Default Grounds...

Yeah, I did a search, and it brought forth a zillion results. I think this is something everyone has seen, so here goes.

When dude first brought the car Monday I pushed the button to raise the sunroof. It raised. I pushed it the other way. Nothing. Pushed it a few more times. Nothing. Smacked around on the dash and console, pushed it again, sunroof closed. Left it that way.

Later in the day I went out and started the car up and started messing with the stereo and stuff. Turned on the headlights, nothing. Turned on the foglights and the button light came on, but no lights. So at this point I turned on the cooling fans (don't ask), nothing. Turned on the interior vent fan, nothing. Got a phone call, went back in the house. Came out a bit later, turned on the lights, up they came. Turned on the fog lights, they came on. Fans, check. Other interior stuff, check. Now everything was working.

So somewhere, I'm guessing in the dash area, is a loose ground wire that everything runs through. Is this the one with the connecter at the firewall? Or under the dash?

I just figured someone would say, "oh, that's ________, just reconnected it".

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Regards,
Russell

Look under your drivers side dash... there is a group of grounds there near the bottom of the fuse box. Don't know if that's your culprit, but it is the nearest earth.
