Question Best way to cut two oval holes in nosepanel?

Title says it, I have access to:

Cut-off wheel
Plasma gun (Miller)
Crappy nibbler
All manner of files/dremel tools

I am building an airbox that will go under the NP, need to get some ventilation and I have always loved the look of the dual oval that alot of the 951 guys use.

Can't say that I've tried it a car but here at the metal fab shop we'll cut 2 holes with a hole saw and connect the dots between them. If you need the elongate the the holes we use a "cone rock". It fits an a grinder, just go down to a local welding shop and ask for one. I know these tools are'nt on the list you provided but there cheap to buy.

I'd use the plasma cutter if you want a clean edge, then roll the edge if you have the tools to do so.

Well, I was going to put some weather stripping-type stuff to make a soft edge. Will a plasma cutter cut through paint, or does the metal have to be bare? I have the paint to re-paint it when I am done, but I really don't want to have to strip the stupid thing.

Use that "tool" shown in your avatar. It would make for some great paddock conversation.

A plasma will go straight through paint without a problem. It does leave a burned-looking edge though.

if your folding that a burned edge shouldnt matter.
Also, I wouldnt trust a dremel.

I will clean up the edge by hand, and then cover the sharp metal with a rubber weather stip. Talked to the bossman, he will do the cut with the plasma - but prefers the metal be bare, no biggie. We have a really nice sheetmetal hole puncher I will use to creat the radius's on the stencil. Should turn out great!

Very carefully

I think NZ used a dremel on this nosepanel. Maybe search to make sure.

just a little OT, but will you be connecting the vents from the header panel to the air box under the header panel?

No, there will be a baffle in there to prevent rain from soaking the filter element. The airflow will have to make a 90 degree turn before entering the air filter.
