Blew the tranny on the 944!
stuck behind some old guy doin 25 in a 35 on my commute to work this morning after hitting every red light... finally had a spot to shoot around him and zip...no more tranny. i got rev and 1st gear after that its just spinnin. and smells like crushed bird berries. if its the tranny i will be swapping out for a LSD tranny and doin the clutch but that won't be to near spring...looks like i gotta find a beater for the winter :rant

BTW -- check to make sure it's not just the CV bolts backing out. When I grenaded my tranny, I felt it. When my bolts backed out, it didn't feel much.

there is a distinct grinding noise from the rear along with mild vibration...could it be the splines on the main drive shaft?
attempted to move it last night and rev was ok to back out but when i brought it past idle it spun off any remaining grip... its not the clutch because that still engages and disengages as well as the aforementioned noise and vibration from the rear.
