This is the reason to be very careful with side impacts and having nascar bars put into your roll cage in a race car. I hope no passenger was in the car.

maybe it was up against a wall or near another car when it was hit, because of the driver side bieng dented up as well, that would cause the passenger side to push in more than usual. just a guess. The driver side coudl jsut be dinged up from prying the door open.

I once had to take the drivers side door panel off because my door lever got stuck. When I removed it all I saw was the small tube that runs diagonally through the door.
That's your protection against side impacts!!! After that I've always been a bit leary about my survival rate in an accident with the 944. I guess 1980's standards were more lenient.

Jay, I agree with you. I think someone was driving too fast around a turn and lost it hitting something fairly thing and solid like a light pole. The whole car is bent and tacoed causing the driver's side bow.
Arbeitm, go remove the door panels of a later or new car. They don't have steel tubes. Instead they have much thinner sheet metal. Side impact airbags will not keep the door from caving in. I trust the 944 much more than any Honda of any year as I cut enough of them up.

Well that looks l an impact with a pole of some type. A t-bone would be alot better since it would distribute the load over a greater area.
If you do gut the doors to save weight leave in the stock door bar. The 2 lbs of savings is just not worth the risk.
