I am 22. I got my 944 at 19 after my first year of college (but i caught the bug very very young when i was like 5 i would go into the porsche dealers with my dad and point out where the engines were, and look under the cars). I have loved every minute of driving her (sometimes i wish for more power and dream of adding a ss but really i like the way she drives). She was my DD until about a month ago.
I Just purchased a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport for winter and daily driver duties. The 944 now becomes my fun nice weather car. I am already starting to miss driving the 944 every day but i know its better off to keep her out of the weather then she can ahg around a lot longer.

I bought my mint 1986 944 N/A when I was 15 for $6000, so far including the purchese of the car it has 12,800 into it... custom paint (cider red metallic by House of Kolor), fiberwerks body kit, koni suspension, all maintance, G-force tires, and one hell of a loud stereo. BTW I am 17 now and I have owned the car for 2 years and a month.

19.
Stumbled upon it while I was 16 and being bussed to my high school "senior leadership seminar" on Memorial Day 2004. Hated having my day off ruined, but saw a little red car FS on the roadside.
Told my dad about it the weekend after, we went up to look at it. He pronounced it a money pit. Next day, he woke me up and asked me what time was good to look at it. Started it, warmed it up, downshifted at 40 from 4-2 (T-belt hadn't been done in 15k, but we didn't know it), and decided it was good. Yes, my parents bought it for me. No, they wouldn't let me have a job that summer, so it's not like I'm some spoiled kid. I do pay upkeep on it, and I want to assume insurance payments on it.
My uncle, a fellow car nut, came up to see the purchase the next week once it was insured and licensed. He bought a 944 of his own the next winter, and he drives it more than his 996.
It needed a new motor mount, rear wheel bearings, and t-belt service. It's needed oil cooler seals and a head gasket since then, but we've done things like brake hoses and other safety issues. I've put 25k miles on it, more than the original owner did in his 8 years.

86 N/A -- Half bought mine, half given to me courtesy of a loan from my dad... Initiallly cost around 6000, but little things, like upkeep, me wrecking it a bit, etc have driven the money put into it to more around 8 grand.... Was lucky enough to have a dad willing to loan out the money to cover what I couldn't -- the only downside is anything he wants to do with his '44, he tests on mine first! Can't say I mind much, though.
