Getting to the point where I can re-solder the DME joints?
Ok, brother's car is pretty well finished - had some headscratching due to intermittant no-start but I told them to thump the DME while cranking and she fired right up. I had a spare that we installed to finish the car up, but I need to fix this one.
I have the top and bottom covers off, but the boards are turned inwards toward themselves. I found some great pics on which pins typically go bad, but no one really explains how to seperate the boards. There are four screws holding each one to the box, but with the screws removed - the boards are still no budging. I don't want to pry on them, how do they come out?

I don't know about the early ones, but the late DME's will pop apart.
She wasn't easy the first time, but with some liquor and a pocket knife, you should be able to pry her open .

Knock on wood, I have not had any problems with my early DME (85 with 227K miles). So they must have done a better job soldering these than the cruise control units....
