I LOVE the sound of the Borla's - if/when I have to replace a muffler, that is what I am going to get.

I know early 944s and 86 turbos do not have resonators. That's the extent of my experience with 944s.

My 968 sounded like a whimp until I installed a beautiful B&B muffler. Cost is a little more than the competition but it's a work of art and craftsmanship and sounds WONDERFUL! Now it sounds like a sports car should. I"m totally satisfied and it bolted right up in no time.

If price isn't an object I would recommend the Cargraphic full stainless system which was designed for the European NGT racing series I believe. I have the 944 S2 version on my car and the sound is wonderful. Idle is basically no difference. Cruise is a bit louder, and WOT in the lower gears really sounds racy, especially above 5000 rpm. There is virtually no droning in the car. The full system includes a 100 cell racing type converter and mine passes local emission tests with flying colors. I believe Damian in NJ has this on his 968 cab. I paid about $1800 a few years ago...

I think the most cost-effective and still legal setup would be a deleted resonator and better muffler. A high flow cat would add to the cost, power and sound, but it might change the smog-passing ability of the car. But I have no personal experience, just going off info I've read so don't listen to me.

Arash,

these cars run very clean, the 100 cell cat really shouldn't have any result on passing emissions testing.
