The brakes are super easy to adjust. First make sure there are no missing pieces. Then install the rear rotor, and align it so the hole is up. Through the hole you can turn the adjuster on the parking brake, and you turn it until you can't turn the wheel at all. Then back it off slowly until it spins freely. Repeat on the other side.
Tools needed - phillips screwdriver + 19mm socket/wrench to remove lug nuts, and possibly the brake caliper if you need to inspect the parking brake assembly.

I find that the parking brake usually requires a firm tug, but I have never had a problem with mine holding my 951 on the steepest of hills. Usually takes between 3 and 6 clicks depending on how steep the hill is.

I replaced my pads and had a broken spring as well. I had to adjust through the hole at the rotor and the cable at the handle. I think the cable might stretch a little over time. Holds tight at 4 clicks parked on a hill.

My only issue is releasing it. I have to pull up on it pretty hard before I can even push the release button.

Same with me, I have a hard time just releasing the handbrake. Is there anything I can do to make it easier to release?

New shoes over the summer and three clicks will make me look like an idiot too.

Easier to release? Hit the gym.

Default I rarely use it, but

My parking brake is kinda weak, too. My mechanic adjusted it when he replaced the pads and it was loose again (i.e., holds on level-ish ground only) within a couple of days. At least he showed me how to adjust it, if I care.

Which I don't, because it's coming off when the car gets prepped this winter.
