A few people told me the overall dyno numbers were low, but another tester will be submitting dyno numbers later in the week. Different car, different dyno, we'll see how they compare...

Moving forward...
Got this email from the other S2 tester today, he will have the V2 chip in hand tomorrow if he didn't get it today, and will be heading to the dyno soon. He writes his first impressions of V1:
Hey Russell,
Installed the V1 chip yesterday. Noticable difference over stock
Shutter upon cold startup was gone
Smoothed out idle
Startup sounded less taxing on engine
Pull from 3000 rpm was much stronger over stock
Could still feel pull up to 5500rpm (3rd & 4th gear)
I did receive a check engine though. Not sure if it is the chip or the car itself. I think the last time I had it in the shop the said there were receiving an error code from a relay so that may be it. Will get that checked out too.
I am looking forward to getting the V2 chip. As soon as I get it I will be going down to the dyno.
Congrats, looks like you got a winner on your hands.

Those numbers are very low.
I had the top end of my (new to me) car rebuilt last year after the PO blew the cam chain. I drove it about 100 miles and then put it on the dyno. In 100% stock form it produced 187 RWHP and 186 FT/LB of torque. Several of the guys in my PCA club then decided to have their car's dynoed and most of them were +/- 5 of me.
I then starting modifying the car and turning it into a dedicated track car. I opened up the airbox and installed a K&N filter. I removed the stock exhaust from the cat back and installed a Lindsey 3" exhaust w/ a Magnaflow mufler and installed a generic chip I found on eBay.
I brough the car back to the dyno and it now puts out 195 HP / 189 FT/LBS.
Those are the highest verified numbers I have seen thusfar. Of course some of the people I run track events with might not want to share that info with me. (Ned are you reading this?? )
If I can figure it out I'll post the chart or if someone wants to do it for me PM me and I'll email it to you.

Eddie-
No doubt you have the fastest CAR in the group. My numbers from the same dyno (when my dad took it there with Dave, et al) are 181 hp and 184 torque. This was after recent engine rebuild with slight increase in compression. Stock intake and exhaust to Flowmaster muffler. I tried lining the airbox with dollar bills but that didn't seem to help--guess I need hundreds.

Quick verbal update from the tester that dynod the S2 V1 chip:
Well, it's unseasonably warm today in SD, so I put V2 in and went for a
drive. I am no expert, but it felt GREAT! Starting and cold gentle drive
was the same as V1, but the stop sign hole was gone, and there was smooth,
fluid power everywhere. 30mph in 4th (2,000 rpm) roll on power brought a
huge grin to my face. Less of a "on the cam" feeling at 4k, still felt very
strong, but could be more power under 4k that made the transition feel less
noticeable, not sure. I will be very curious to see the dyno results from
your other guy.
HTH,
James
This is the V2 chip, Bill will dyno that soon and then we'll move on to V3. The V2 chip took care of the lull in power James complained of in the V1 chip taking off from a top sign/light. This is why real world feedback is so important, you don't get this kind of information from dynos. Actually the only thing the dyno is going to tell me is how the wide open throttle performance is. But you spend 90% of your time in the partial throttle maps unless you have a track only car. So that's where I concentrate my efforts first. I think 10hp gain over stock is optimistic, but I KNOW you're going to see considerably more area under the curve. But considering the first dyno made 5HP and 7TQ on the V1 chip, the final version may very well net 10HP over stock.
We'll see!

Well actually with the 944S tester, jgp0rsche, he received 10hp over stock 'just' with the exhaust, so I don't think it's crazy talk. Then beta tester of the S2 is dynoing the V2 chip this evening, so I expect a chart any time now...

Just to let you guys know, I gained 15.2WHP over stock on my 944S. That was with one of the first versions on the 944SMAX chip(Version2 I believe). I gained 10WHP from the exhaust. Russell and I have been hoping for 8-10WHP from the 944SMAX chip. We haven't gotten there......yet. But, I believe we will. We are going to be getting down and dirty to get every possible HP out of this chip.
