Default Ok, I'm at a loss

Ok. Well now I'm not sure it is bad fuel. It acts like it but not until it warms up.

After she gets warm she starts stumbling and back firing and wanting to die unless you keep the gas in. I have no clue. It sat outside and wasn't run between like mid may and last week.

And I heard from the insurance today and they're not going to give me ****. After 5 months of headache and BS. Initaly they told me since there wasn't flame damage that they weren't going to give me anything. Then after talking to the gieco claims agent she said if i could get an estimate they'd cover it. So after dealing with Import Specialist here in town and getting dicked around by them for 2 months I finaly got another shop to give me the est. Then I've been waiting to hear back and I got a call this morning that said since it was mechanical failuire, just burned up wiring, they weren't going to pay for it.

Don't worry about that. It was me trying to figure out drain my gas tank. I'm so frustrated with my 944 and it's just been a big pain in by butt ever since I got it. Once I get it running I'm hoping I can get rid of it.

It sucks cause all I've wanted is a 944 now the last year and a half has sucked.

Oh, what doesn't make sense about my car running like crap? I originaly thought it was bad gas. I went to go mess with the car today and it started right up and ran ok when it was cold but when it started warming up it started stumbling and backfiring and generaly wanting to die. I'm at a loss to even know where to start.

If it runs 'OK' cold you might have a vacuum leak that isn't too bad when there the cold fuel enrichment; once it warms up it's leaned out and coughs and gasps. Does it backfire through the exhaust or intake? Have you checked for a cracked or loose J-boot or disconnected vac hose yet?

Bad AFM is the only thing that causes backfire from what I have seen other than spark plug wires put in the wrong order.

Exhaust. I was thinking about a vacumm leak cause i remembered last winter it'd have a hard time starting cause the MAF door wouldn't pull open and it kinda had simular sypmtoms, just now it was after it got warm. It backfires and pops through the exhaust.

Sorry if I was rude earlier. I spend a lot of my time that i'm not in school fighting with me ex wife. :-)

Too rich, plug(s) not firing, injector stuck open, bad DME temp sensor, can cause backfiring through the exhaust. Follow a troubleshooting guide like in Clarks, Haynes, or the FSM to help pin it down. If you had a crossed spark plug wire it would miss when cold.

Original posts The part that I think is confusing people is that they don't remember that you started a separate post a few days ago about how to drain fuel from the tank, and didn't catch this from one of your early posts:

I had a minor electrical fire in mine
Best bet is to try and keep everything in a single thread, if it's related. Otherwise, it will feel like walking into a movie after it's half over...

He said the car's been sitting since about May, so that's... about 6 months. But we're pretty sure it's not gas that has gone bad

It runs like my friends car did when it sat all winter and how my bike ran when the gas went bad in that. Bad gas + carbs = Not fun rebuilding 4 carbs.

I know it's not a crossed wire. Well I didn't do it and I talked to the shop and they said they didn't. I got some new plugs that i'll be putting in and checking the other stuff that you guys mentioned. I wish the insurance company had decided this months ago so I could get it done durning the summer instead of now when it's cold. If it's nice and not raining i'm working. I guess I need to break out the heaters and my sweats and my work lights.

And again, sorry for being an "*** hat"

Well it was runing kind of bad cold today. I had to back it out of the garage to work on it. I changed the plugs to some Bosch Supers cause the old plus were pretty black. I could also smell a little fuel when I took the plugs out. I'm guessing it's running rich but how do I correct this? It ran a little better afterwords. I used my timing light and all the cyls are getting spark and don't seem to be missing. I inspected the vaccum lines I could and didn't see anything bad.

There's also a few loose connections that I don't know what they go to. I'm going to try to find some web hosting so I can put the pics I took up.
