Default What is this sway bar?

I got this from a friend and tried to install it on my 86 n/a. He claimed it was a 944 Turbo bar. It's 24mm, I think it's hollow...seems lighter than the stock 20mm I took off and has the number 944 706 C2 on one end. Problem is, it doesn't fit!

I can get it to attach ok, but it rubs against the tie rods. In this photo you can see it installed with the 20mm stock bar for comparison. I have since removed it.

What have I got here? I was pretty sure a Turbo bar could bolt right on, now I'm not so sure...

Should be 02 not C2....maybe it's just dirt covering the number.

Sure it's not upside down?

You have it mounted upside down. That is, swap lefts and rights and it'll be fine.

BTW -Did you get the larger bushings for the ends at the A-arms?

Are you serious? Oh jeez, I'm an idiot!

The ends are the same size as stock. At least they fit.

The ends fit up until the 25.5mm bars I think.

OK. My mistake then. Forgot the switch-over point.

Yeah, it was upside down. Redid the job (I'm getting good at this!) and it went right together. I guess I never figured that you could even put it on upside down so I didn't even *think* that was the issue.

Oh well, I learn something every day about this car.
