Default Wanted - 968 Cabriolet

I'm helping my father in law look for a 968 Cab.....price range in the higher teens to low 20"s...depending on year, mileage, condition, records......prefers to buy from private party (no tax in Georgia on private party sales)

Looking for any year, but later the better, lower mileage, willing to consider up to 75k (or so) miles if it has good history/ records.

Prefer white or silver, but will consider red, blue or black. Prefer manual but will consider automatic.

Wants a 8 to 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 for interior and exterior condition, the car should be current on maintenance, with records of belt and or water pump replacement, etc...acceptable carfax, preferably in the southeastern U.S., or midwest.

Does this exist? Is the right one out there?

If you have one or know of one, let me know by PM or e-mail.

Thanks

Hello Bob,

I have a 92 944 Cab for sale. I just haven't posted it here so far. I'm planning to soon. Would he be interested? 51K and great maintenance.

Sincerely, Lee

Hmmm... I shouldn't tease you like this, but I've thought about possibly selling my 968 a couple of times in the last few months. Its just a shade under 60k miles, Horizon Blue (light blue metallic) with a dark blue top and two tone grey interior, tiptronic, and ALL maintenance is up to date. The car is 100% stock, with teh exception of the battery (Interstate) and the radio was upgraded to a Porsche CDR-220 when the original factory CR-1 unit died. Cosmetically, I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10 on the outside (only real problem are a few small blemishes on the wheels) and a 8 out of 10 on the inside (slightly worn drivers seat bolster and some sun faded panels that need to be redyed). I'm the second owner of the car and have owned it since 2001. I've entered and won a couple of car shows with it, but I really don't use it and it bugs me to just let it sit. Fair warning, it will take some serious cash to get me to sell it, but if you are really interested, let me know. My wife will probably kill me for even thinking about it tho.

Regards,

There is a low mileage, white 968 cab at a local dealer (Southern Cali) of some national repute for sale with make offer. I went to look at it and it is cosmetically, very nice. I know it is far away, so happy to help out with pics, bring to mechanic etc. I am not mechanically inclined to really know. The site is: http://www.chequeredflag.com/view-in..._makef=Porsche

The usual disclaimer, no interests other than pointing it out to a fellow lister.

Thanks for the information guys.

I will pass on the information to my F-I-L, I think he really wants a 968 not the 944. But I will let him know about the information.

I will steer him to the other websites as well.

If you responded with one that might be for sale, I will discuss those with him to see if he wants to pursue.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Mjaffe - My father in law has been talking about that one too...just not willing to go all the way to California to get it at this point. But that one really looks nice.

There are a few on ebay right now. As long as you have it checked out first, you can get a good deal sometimes if you're lucky. I'm sure a rennlister would check one out for him, and if he buys it consider shipping it in an enclosed trailer so it doesn't get screwed up before he gets it. Shipping should be $1000 +/- $500 depending on the distance.

Thanks for the feedback and info.
Stolarzj - My FIL drove the one in Clarkesville GA, but it wasn't very nice, some paint issues and paint / repaint issues on the wheels, and my FIL is trying to go to Knoxville to see the blue one there. I think the one in Knoxville has been for sale for many months, I saw it on autotrader or ebay when looking around back in May or June, wondering why it is still for sale?
There is a white one on ebay through a dealer in Florida, trying to get more info on it, and left messages on another one, red/black in Alexandria VA.

Thanks for the help guys.
