If you're going to go to the trouble of taking out the torsion bars, you'll probably want to get something beefier than 951 bars.

We are replacing them because the originals are "tweaked", probably from being overloaded......and a fellow member is being so gracious as to give the 951 ones to me.

I agree if you are going to go through the trouble, get bigger ones than a 951 since some n/a have the same diameter as the 951 torsion bars.

I'm starting the planning of upgrading the OEM suspension on my 84. What would you suggest. Car's main purpose in life will be a track/DE car, and if its drivable on the street too, that's a bonus.

30 mm.

You can put in 250lbs front springs big front sway bar and no rear bar (or small one). Make sure the rear is really low (maybe a bit *** down) and it should be fine.

Joe, are your control arms boxed early steel ones, late aluminum ones or if allowed, aftermarket arms?

Thanks,

my front control arms are stock steel. They are cheap and work pretty well. I prefer them to the aluminum as they are cheap and easily replaced if needed.

I did this. I would have liked to go with the Sway Away bigger bars, but I didn't have the $$$ to drop on them. But I was putting the 250# front springs on and I wanted to even out the rear as much as possible. So I got a set of 25.5mm from ebay for cheap.

Haven't autox'd it yet so I'm not sure how it handles. Good on the street. But you can only tell so much on the street..

I believe 25.5 came with turbo S or m030 cars only.

Did a quick look-up on Paragon. Seems there's two 30mm t-bars. Solid and hollow. Sine the hollow one is a higher price, I'm guessing that is the more desirable one? Any one try both? Handling differences between the two, or is it just the weight to keep the car lighter?

Quick Reply: Will 951 torsion bars fit in an early 944?
