Default Windshield washer tank - Year of change

what year did Porsche change the configuration of the windshield washer tank? looking at one from an 87 and the picture on ebay looks different than my 88. mabye it is the angle.

Also, want to confirm it is the same on the turbo and na.

I know all the '86 turbo that we've done have had the long tanks. My '88 and the '89 we did both had the short tank. My guess is that the change over took place sometime in '87.

Perhaps the bigger tank was put on if the headlight washers were added no matter what year. Just a thought, not sure if it's true or not.

Late 87 IIRC.

The larger tanks were for the headlight washer option.

The only other variation I recall, I think the change was for MY '88, is the lid and pump. The earlier tanks have a flip on/off cap and the pump lines have a return drain/pickup hose going through the cap. The later tanks have a screw on top and the pump is not plumbed through the cover.

Anyone need an 86 tank? Just pulled mine out, even bought a new cap for it. Needs to be cleaned up and I did have headlight washers (not sure if that matters)

My 85.5 NA and 86 Turbo have the same tank. I just took off and installed over the weekend. Boy do I love having a parts car.
