Default Can it be done / will it fit? (avoid shifting "between" gears)

Is there a gate vault (ferrari's term) that will fit a 944 with little or no modification? it would help to avoid shifting "between" gears and to get rid of my worn shift boot.
just curious and havent seen one
Thanks
-Seb

The 944 needs a boot. If you remove the rubber under boot, you have just opened up your interior to the road.

ahh...I see, that was a dumb question...
ok, better question;
so if I kept the shift boot, or something like a shift boot on, and then put a gate vault on would it work?
I know it seems redundant, but I think it would be worth not buying a new tranny or clutch because of a bad throw.

I've heard those are really difficult and annoying to shift well (or to shift well quickly). Maybe someone with a Ferrari will let me confirm that.

Why in the hell would you want one? They look horrible on non Italian sports cars and were originally placed on them due to gearbox design. Replace your shift rod and shifter bushings and keep track of what gear you are in and you wont have any issues.

I've never in my life accidentally shifted "between" gears.

Sort of off topic, but I once pinched my finger really badly in one of those because my hand was low around the shift lever and my pinky finger got pinched between the level and the metal base.

It might have been on a video game, but it still happened...

I have missed shifts before, but that would never had helped. As for missing gears entirely. Well no never once.
