Default Cross Post - Stereo Help

I posted in OT, but probably will have more responses here.

What would be the best way to hook up four speakers (4x6 alpine 4629) and two 8" bazooka subwoofers (none powered) to a four channel amp in my Porsche 944? (added Porsche 944 to keep on topic)

My guess is I'm going to have to use two channels for the four speakers and two for the subwoofers.

I guess I could use only two speakers on two channels and the other two for the subs.

I do have a second 2 channel amp but I'd rather not have all that stuff in my spare tire wheel well. If I did use the second amp will I have to run another power line from the battery?

I'm not looking for thumping sound here just a clean and clear sound with a little bass.

What would be the best? I learn with diagrams.

Thanks

PS. Yes I do like listening to the engine sound, but I travel on the highway a number of times and also enjoy music.

If your amp is decent quality and can handle a stable 2-ohm load you should be able to run the 4-4x6's in parallel connected to front output only and use your OE fader switch wired in between for front to rear.

I would use two rear amp channels to control the subs, two front amp channels to control the front speakers, and connect the rear speakers directly to the head unit. If you connect all six speakers to the amp, you may overload it.

What’s the brand and model of the amp you want to install?

Having said that, one bazooka in the back will probably be adequate.

I would have to say the best way to hook it up would be just keep your speakers hooked up to your head unit. You are not going to get to much of a difference on a amp compaired to the head unit's power. We are talking about 4x6's here. If you had a componet set I would say run the amp but your running 4x6's. I would say just hook up the sub's to the amp and leave the factory speakers on the deck's power. Also if you want to hook up your 4x6's to the amp I bet it would be a pain in the *** to run all new speaker wires. Just my 2 cents. Hope that helps.

I would suggest deleting the rear speakers completely - being an audio enthusiast it I find stereo (2-channel) music played on 4 speakers rather unpleasing. You will probably not notice the rear speakers being gone.

If you added a second amp you would not need to run a second power line. All you need to do is run the power line from the battery (use at least 4 awg, if not bigger) to a distribution block (like this: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=BC-1024) and then two short runs of smaller power wire (8 awg at least, and keep it <2ft) to the amps.

Thanks Guys. I have an Alpine V12 MRV-F307 amp and have already run new speaker wires to a previous older two channel amp. I now have some options to try.

edit - I also have an Alpine cde 9846 Headunit.
