Do what you want to, it's your car. Putting it up on jacks stands for a while isn't going to hurt it, ask my 951, LOL.

Black and white checkerboard? Kinda like some of the 70's interiors

Or black and white alternating squares, just around the rims, with white center.

Someone has an interesting zebra striped 944.

A couple of people have done gunmetal center with silver/polished lips on their phone dials and I personally think that looks very nice. Plus, it's not the normal black and silver.

Just a suggestion.

I kind of like where you are going with that. The black on the spokes and lug recesses may not seem like they'd be noticable but I've seen simlilar things in the past and it makes more of an impact than one would suspect. My only real concern is the black lip, for reasons mentioned before about making the sidewall look bigger. I'm not sure how I'd correct that...

I'm not sure how that would work out. It's not looking too pretty in my head but I'd have to see a photoshop or something.

Maybe just do all of the original idea but leave the lip white?

I want to suggest leaving a thin white line around the black lip to separate the lip from the tire but that might look too busy...

Some crappy photoshopping...

I kind of like the all-white lip. (pic 1)

However, putting in a thin black line might help break things up a bit, if you are so inclined. (pic 2)

Just some more things to be thrown out...
