Not complaining or anything, I do like to see fruitful discussions regardless of topic, but I do find it ummm amusing? that a thread devoted to "aftermarket mirror conversions" has more posts about the old reliable (read stale) 968 conversion than anything else. I like the 968 mirrors just fine, but even they are too cumbersome looking for my track car project.

Price- I bought my 968's ~4yrs ago from Don Rosen for $395- yes, these are PAIR prices, as someone recently asked. I was then told that Sunset had them ~$75 cheaper, so they seem to have stayed relatively consistent over the years.
The handles are another thing. You don't have to use ALL of the parts in the Sunset parts list, but it's a good, full comprehensive list & at best you can save ~$50-$60 total by nit-picking- there are two pieces per handle- one is the trigger itself- that's only $7/side & worth it IMO. Then, an internal piece- I'd rather save that $ & do a tiny bit of dremel work on the backside of the 968 handle...
NEMESIS- true enough- it's funny, but then, I've seen more pics of aftermaket versions in this thread, than I thought existed. Several are pretty cool & few things really LOOK good on these cars- several choices in this thread look good & are affordable based on the links. I like the 935 look myself- also like the ones below, but not the extra mount hanging down on the door- looked like a strap until I edited it for better light... Also, can anyone P-shop Tifo's to match the red of his car...?

I'm a 928 owner but since the 944 and the 928 mirrors are same I figured this would help.
I've seen at least one 928 owner using Miata mirrors. They are very simmilar to the 968 mirros and they cost a lot less. They look much better than any of the other aftermarket mirrors (nexcept fo the 968) on this post. There was also a 928 owner that was planning to use the mirrors off an Olds Aurora, thye didn't look that good. I've noticed that the Olds Delta 88 and 98 also have door mounted mirrors that are worth a try.
