About to install the Oil Pan with My Swiss's Oil Pan Gasket Retainers. If you installed them did you go get new bolts to compensate for the difference in the retainers depth?

BTW, don't know what happened to the original thread where My Swiss introduced his Oil Pan Gasket Retainers. Searched and found several links but the links are dead. Anyone save that thread?

Thanks. The engine is out of the car and on a stand so I don't think those will be necessary but you never know.

Don't use sealant except maybe in corners.

That's my .02. The sealant made my gasket bulge all over the place. maybe with retainers you can use it, but i say it's not worht it. I used no retainers and no gasket maker (i had to take it back apart and take off all the gasket maker) and it is fine.

When I ordered the kit, new bolts came with it.

Mine didn't come with new bolts. Do you remember how long they are?

Nah, sorry. If I had to guess, I'd say 7-9mm longer than stock, or the thickness of the retainer.

Yeah, I figured at the worst I'd take the retainer with me tomorrow to a hardware store during lunch. Just being lazy.

Interesting suggestion about studs. I wish I had thought of those when I was flipping the rings with the engine in the car. Would have saved me a big headache. Good idea!
