From the get-go or after a manual attempt? My air wrench has 650 ft-lbs reverse torque and I set it to max and 100psi for this job. If there is any play in the splines you've got to use the JB Quick. I've even successfully pulled one that was well stripped using JB Weld and letting it set overnight. My electric impact only has 150 ft-lbs reverse torque but it worked on a 968 cam shaft bolt and pressure plate/flywheel bolts.

After a manual attempt with no apparent stripping - just too tight for my muscles.

Our impact is OK, but nothing specail - made sure the compressor built up to a full 120psi - impact didn't even budge it. So we set the whole thing on the floor, I put my foot on the cam tower and my dad put his full weight on the breaker bar while supporting the cheese head bit, keeping it strait/fully inserted - then it stripped.

Just got off the phone with Paragon, ordered some odds and ends and a replacement bolt - tried to buy two, but all they had is one on the shelf.

The JB Weld is a great idea. Did you have a hard time cleaning it off the tool afterwards? Did you simply pry the tool off and cleaned it on the bench grinder with a wire wheel?

I have used a large pipe wrench on the out side with great results. Plenty of grip and leverage!!!!!

I'm having to wrestle with this. The XZN bit it working its way out that the teeth on the bolt are starting to get ruined. The hole is not deep enough to be able to give it enough torque.
