Default WTB:1988 944 5spd trans

I am looking for a 1988 5 speed trans, short 5th, with or without LSD. Also 4:11 gearing...944cup...

You can get the 5th from a blown up 88 or any turbo trans, just swap it into any 944 trans. 4:11 can be sourced from an Audi but they're rare, or you could buy new too. Maybe Powerhaus?

Another thought - you might not need the 4:11 if you run 225/45, might want to ask on the racing forum.

I currently have a 1986 turbo trans, does this have a short 5th?

Yes but 1-4 are different than the NA trans.

Yep most guys try to get a 924S (87 or 88) tranny or 88 944 unit for the short 5th. However a standard long 5th gearbox can have a short 5th installed into it. This gear comes in turbo all years so if you have broken or spare turbo tranny and a long 5th NA gear box just use the 5th from the turbo unit. It is pretty easy swap as gears go.
