The way I see it, half of me hopes someone keys my car because my paint is such crap and it will give me more reason to get it painted.

i parked next to a new bmw 5 series just now.. maybe it'll camoflauge me.

I just graduated college in may and had my car there for 3 years and never ahd any problems except for my cover being stolen once (no damage to the car). I was mad at first but then realised there was no damage to my car so i was in the end happy.

I am sorry to hear that other have had bad experiances.

It sounds like it really just depends on where you are located. My friend with an e36 m3 has had ****loads of problems with his car being messed with, but a lot of it is just where he parks (parking spot and location of the city).

put a small for sale sign in the drivers side quarter window with a price of say 3500. dont put a phone number on it.

if they see it is worth nothing they may look at the more expensive cars.

I've had mine on campus for about 6 weeks now and haven't had any problems...well besides the mowing crew blowing grass on it Allthough I am hesitant to bring my car cover as I'm afraid that might get stolen despite whether i have a lock on it or not.

Car cover - Pep Boys - $29
Car cover lock and cable - Pep Boys - $39
Rusted 79 toyota corolla with blown motor from neighbor - $75
Expression on somebodies face when you remove the car cover..... Priceless.....
Some things money can't buy.

Have you thought about getting a cheap cover and hitting it in spots with primer and or black spray paint?
I had a 71 Cutlass convertable in Memphis TN. and I used a car cover with grease stains and paint spatter. Nobody stole it and nobody even looked to see the pretty car underneath.
if you really want to throw them off put some carefully placed repair patches and stiches in it.
Worked for me.... :-)

Going on my 2nd year on campus w/ no problems. I park next to a 951 which also has had no problems. There is however, a student-driven 2001 996 C4S that parks at the apartmens accross the street from my place and I can't believe some drunk hasn't put out a window or something. I drool on my way to class.

I'm not one to be jealous, but holy crap I just want a ride! To have a car of that magnitude as a college student would be unthinkable. I could either:
A) Pay for my whole college education twice.
B) Get a 996 C4S.

If this is an option, why even go to school?
