thanks for that insight steve.. didn't even consider it could have fallen in the void behind the block...

Any more opinions??

quick summary:

dropped speed sensor bolt. Cant find it anywhere , suspect its in clutch inspection hole

Felt around with a magnet, turned motor over have not heard anything, no binding, no noise at all. Fished around with magnet more and still no bolt.

Would you pull the engine to get at the clutch (cylinder head/etc already off) .. or just leave it and put the car back together and drive??

I dropped one also and couldn't find it, but I was sure it didn't go into the inspection hole. There is definately a place a bolt can hide down there, but I couldn't figure out where it is.

Mike,

While I was at the 'fest we had a similar happening. It turned out the bolt didn't go into that little hole after all, it fell onto some fiberglass insulation crap near the exhaust. It may be in your best interest to try there if you already haven't!

HTH,
