Default Loud clicking noise from the back? (sound of a clutch going south?)

My car has suddenly started to click quite loudly from the back and am hopeing you guys can help me figure out what it is.
So here are the symptoms:
It started on the way home from work, and seems to come and go.
It's most pronounced when the engine is between 2-2500k and accelerating.
It fades to a nearly inaudible level when I disengage the transmission and keep the engine at the same RPM, but doesn't go away completely.
It starts off at about 1-2 clicks a second when I first start moving and goes up to around 4-5 clicks a second to ~20 then stays at that speed.

I recently put on a new PS rack, tie rods and all but haven't gotten it realigned yet.
I also put on a Tial wastegate which was pressed against the torque tube.

So I'm wondering if it's CV joints, the wastegate bouncing against the tube, or something worse? I'm going to poke around under there to see if there's any wear on the wastegate right now.

Is it a metallic, hollow type of clicking that increases with speed? Its your cv's. Take a look at your cv boots (inner and outer on each side) and see if there is any that are ripped. If so, that's the obvious thing. They can go bad with the boot intact too, then you'll have to investigate a bit closer. Its hard with cv clicks sometimes to locate exactly where they are coming from as the sound resonates off different things back there.

Under acceleration, probably cv joints.

Sounds like a bad CV joint to me. Probably the driver's inner - that's the one that usually goes first.

I had my outer CV's do this just last week on the 951 while on a 900 mile road trip with my wife. The local shop couldn't get to it. I had no way to swap sides on the axles so I bought a meat marinade syringe at a Bar B Q store; picked up 2 tubes of CV grease and injected them into the outer CV's from the narrower part of the boot. I'll be damed if they haven't made a single click since in 400 miles and the hole in the boot was small enough that it hasn't thrown any grease out yet. My McGuyver method isn't the utimate solution but it sure bought me some much needed time

Why does that particular one go bad first?

Well, the CV boots look like they're all in good shape. I think it is most likely my wastegate bouncing against the torque tube. The bolt that goes into the top port has made a noticable dent in the tube near it. I guess I should have given it more clearence when I installed it?

I'm going to bring it to a shop to have the front realigned tomorrow anyways, so I'll have them take a look and see what they think too.

Heat from exhaust. Then again, that was the second one to go bad on my car.

Well, I started it up this morning and the noise was gone.
But now my clutch is engaging at the very bottom of the petal where it use to be close to the top. It's also a whole lot easier to push in now. Ugh.

Well, I tried to go to lunch and my clutch doesn't want to engage well at all right now. As in the car bucked back when I started it since it was in reverse and I held the clutch in. Needless to say I decided to walk to lunch instead of drive.

So what's the likelyhood of something clutch related making loud clicking noises before failing? Also, how much is it to replace the master/slave cylinder since the clutch itself never slipped or gave me any problems?

My guess would be that you have a problem with the throw-out bearing.

Z-man, you might be right. The presure plate on my clutch gave up the ghost and won't disengage. I guess I found out what that clicking noise was

Time for a new clutch!
