Go to Canadian Tire and get their Wintertrac tires. I forget what major brand they are a copy of, but they are made by one of the major tire companies and are a very good winter tire. I bought a set for my 944 for ~$410 installed, and it gripped like it had claws. It was just amazing.
If you drive on ice packed roads then get the IceTrac tires, they are $10-$15/tire more, but they can be studded.
I ran them in a 205 tread width on my 944, and I am running 215 width on the 951 (both on 7" rims).

Just how much did you spend on your Fuzions? I paid $150-$180/tire for mine, then I found out about 1010tires.com and now I feel ripped off.

I paid about the same I think for my Fuzions. About $900 installed on my 17" Cup 1's. I thought that was what I would probably pay. They've been fantastic though.

I was thinking just seeing what Canadian Tire had for options. They are not major popular brands like Michelinand Yokohama, but they are a long-standing company that is based on selling tires.

IIRC their winter tires are made by Bridgestone.
I found the Fuzions on 1010tires for ~$90-$110 each.... made me sad when I saw it.
Especially since I had just needed to replace one, and since time was of the essence I got burned for a whopping $265 installed for a 245/45R16 Fuzion ZRi

OK, I also need winter tires. I wanna go with the M3's. Tirerack says they have the stock sizes 205/55 16 and 225/50 16, but I thought I was supposed to get thinner snow/winter tires (205 all around)? M3's don't come in 205/50 16. Could I get 205/55's all around? What should I do?

205 on an 8" wheel - kinda pushing it. I'm sure you will be fine with the stock 205/225 combo.

The whole "big sidewall, thin tread" mentality is going the way of dinosaurs lately due to substantial improvement in winter tire technology. They dont make 17"+, wide, v-rated snow tires for nothing.

I"m also looking for decent all season tires for my 944 that are reasonably priced. I'm mostly worried about performance in the rain because like mentioned it barely snows here.

Have a look at the Nokian WR. You will not be disappointed.

In agree as my cousin in NJ runs Nokian WR on his Audi... excellent half-snow, half-rain tire.

I don't come cheap - but I am good. Send me a PM and I'll see if I can help.
