Default Vacation Pics; I hope you have a big trunk..cuz I'm gonna put my bike in it

I really have never posted pictures of any of my cars on rennlist yet, so I thought I would add a couple pictures that I took from a road trip this summer. I bought the turbo about 5 months ago from a business associate of my dad's... consequently I have driven the car about 7,000 miles. Its probably my favorite highway car of all time!

The first picture is me, and the other fellow is a good friend of mine who owns one of the nicest original 951's out there. The following pictures were taken in western PA where we did about 40 miles of cycling on our trip.

Hey Ryan- What kind of bike rack is that? My wife and I are planning on going some biking trips next spring, but haven't invested in a rack yet.

How hard is it to put the rack on and take it off? Loading and unloading the bikes?

Thanks!

There is a 944 roof rack made specifically by Porsche:
http://www.globewerks.net/personal/2...1_roofrack.htm

Unfortunately, I believe Porsche no longer stocks them. You can try your luck on Ebay. I bought a brand new rack from Suncoast Porsche when they cleared their last remaining stock on Ebay a couple of years ago.. I scored a sweet deal for $75.

The bike adapter attachment for mounting the bikes o0nto the roof rack. It uses a 928 part number. 928 Specialist still sells the bike attachment:

IIRC, Thule makes a rack for 944s.

Fred, That trail was the "sandy creek" bike trail, which ran to Oil city. We took route 8 north off of 80 in PA, and it was probably only 15 miles or so from the interstate.

David, The rack on my car is a Thule, which came with a 944 I bought several years ago. I'm told the Thule fit kit is hard to find for a 944 these days. The actual bike tray on top is "rocky mount" brand. The bars aren't bad to install (it does take a few minutes and you should probably have an asistant to make sure you dont drop it on the roof) , and the Rocky mount is a snap to put on. As far as loading bikes once the bars and trays are in place....easiest bike rack I have ever used, hands down. The roof is the perfect height for loading, and the rack system is really simple.

Serge, The BMW looks sweet with the rack too!! I am a big fan of sports cars with racks too. We got a couple stares from people with audis with roof racks on our trip.

The 944 is in my opinion the El Camino of Porsches.. and i mean that in a good way! There are not many sport cars that can do this!

Ive been seriously considering a S2000 as a daily driver and keeping the 944 for track / auto-x use. But that seems kind of backwards considering i can fit consideriably more stuff into my 944 than a S2000 could ever carry!!

Hey Ryan, It looks like you and Vic had a good time. Can you make it back to G-ville for October 8th? It'd be cool if you guys could all make it. (if you could mention it to Artie, Theron, Kyle, Vic, etc the next time you talk to them it would be quite helpful. Thanks!)

When you do decide to put those coilovers in give me a call.

See you around!
