Default Installed Lowering Springs - Holy Cow it's Low...and a couple of questions.

So I finally got my solid bushing, geometry correction ball joints, and lowering springs installed today.

Wow..it's low. A lot lower than I thought it'd be. Now I definetly have to do the torsion bars. It looks like a drag racer. (Back looks too high now).

Anyway, so my questions are as follows:

1. The longer ball pins where a PITA to get into the spindles. Is that normal?

2. My sway bar is now a huge PITA to put back on (I don't know if it's the ball joints or the springs that caused it). I had to jack it up on each side to get it into the arms.

Anyone else with similar experiences?

Matt.. the old balljoint pins slid in and out of the spindle pinch easily and i too had some trouble getting the new pins in. I ended up whacking a chisel inbetween the pinch to spread it open, worked like a charm and the pin slides in and out without issue.

Cant comment much on the sway bar.

What are the measurments from the center of the wheel to the fender front and rear? I ran with the front lowered 3/4 of an inch and the rear at stock height for the first half of last years autocross.. i didnt adjust the camber eccentric in the back until late janurary of this year. I can tell you the car handles very weird at the limit with the way it was. On high speed sweepers the rear would feel kinda twitchy..and it broke loose very easily and without much warning.

Matt,

I can't answer your questions but I have one of my own. Where did you get the geometry correction ball joints?

Thanks,

Matt,

Measure the ride height from the bottom of the rocker to the ground. There is a seam at the front and the rear doors that extends to the bottom of the rocker. You need more than 5" here for street use - prefereably about 5-1/2 " but I have run my car at 4-1/2". Just be careful over the speed bumps.

I recommend you lower the rear to the same height as the front but be aware that with factory torsion bars you may rub the inside of the fender wells on hard, fast turns (like at a race track). You ought to consider some 28mm torsion bars and a set of Koni's to go with those front springs.

have fun!
