Question 88 924S engine into a 85 944 Help?

I am wondering if anyone has done this swap and if so what wiring and
sensors would have to be changed? Also I have heard of using the late
fuel rail is a good idea but a mod to the line will have to be made is
this correct? Any info would help Thanks!

I am assuming you have an early 85?

Yes, the swap is easy. You will have to use the dme harness from the early engine due to where it enters the fire wall. You will have to use the dme and air-meter from the 88. You would be better off using the early car fuel rail. Reason.... if you use the late fuel rail, you will have to rig up some fittings to get the fuel lines hooked up. On your 85, the fuel lines come up from a different spot than on a late car. Using more fittings equals more of a chance of a fuel leak. If you have experience with fuel line fittings, then you probley be ok. You will also have to use the temp guage sensor from the early car. The early cars have 1 wire, and the late cars have 2

I think tod just about covered it all. The only thing is the 88 924 motor may have a oil level sensor you won't have a plug in the early harness (I am going by memory so I may be wrong)

Lego is correct, I forgot about the oil level sensor. You won't be able to plug it in. Like he said, the early harness will not have the wire for it.
