Default Some good folks at Mid America Motorworks

Just had to mention this ...

Mid America Motorworks was selling an older G-Tech (the upgradeable pro comp) on eBay. So I bought it, but as luck would have it, I received the SS model which doesn't have the road race features I wanted. So I emailed them about it and it turns out that they have run out of the old Pro Comp models. This is how my luck usually runs. Anyway in the end a gentleman over there named Doug Evans emailed me asking if I wanted the new RR instead of just a refund. Ofcourse I said yes and thank you. They are also sending it to me FedEx Next Day. That was cool and much appreciated.

Well, I always believe in putting the word out when I'm treated either right or wrong by a company. In this case I can say Doug over at Mid America Motorworks definitely did right.

I have always preferred MA Motorworks over Performance Products and Automobile Atlanta because of their service and easy to read catalog.

I didn't no they were on ebay. What is their ID?

If you have ever dealt with Auto Atlanta...I'm sure it was bad. If you have ever had a 914..you probably have dealt with them..and they ARE HORRIBLE..too bad they have all the parts! I can not say enough good about PARTS HEAVEN though..they have gone WAY past the distance to make me happy. An absolute pleasure!

Yeah, I forgot about Parts Heaven. I like how they give the small parts for free. Anyone ever tried silverstar recycling? silverstarrecycling.com

I have always had good experiences with MA Motorworks. Except last time I called they said they had lost their porsche vendor and are starting to phase out their supply of them

Have you ever actually received parts from Auto Atlanta? I talked to them several times about a tps socket and pins. They kept telling me it would be six weeks, eight weeks or two weeks. I finally went to Don Jackson locally, where DJ helped me rebuild my socket.

I received a postcard from Auto Atlanta a few months ago telling me the part was now unavailable. Good thing, as I forgot all about it...having ordered it TWO YEARS AGO!

MA is so expensive though! I haven't ordered parts through mail order in years - I just get everything from a local shop, IPB. Prices are at least as cheap as online and theyre usually available the very next day. I think this holds true for most reputable Porsche shops.

Incredibly overpriced IMO and you don't get to pick which part you want if they have several to choose from. They act like their back lot is a Buddhist temple where only the worthy can enter. I've found new parts from Sunset that are only 25% higher than Silverstars used ones. I like the swap meet they put on in the Fall though. Parts Heaven is much better to work with even if they aren't local for me.

Silverstar is a POS. Unless you know the guys or have a PHD in "social engineering," prepare to fork over some cash and deal with poor service. This is just from my experience.

While we're talking about retailers (I've done most of my recent business with Pelican, and they've been very good), I'm curious about Vertex. I'm facing a clutch replacement soon, and their price for what appears to be the same Sachs kit that everyone else carries is $100+ cheaper. What are they like to deal with?
