out of curiousity, could you do something like that with an early dash? If so, how much would it be?

The early dash is still on the bench and I'm not sure if it will ever get finished. I mentioned before in another thread, that it will sell for about $350 and the install will run about $400. It requires quite a bit of stitching and trimming of the dash recesses

Well Rob, as we have talked before I do hope you can get the early dash off the bench for those of us that will want it.. Hopefully the late model sells will pickup to get this going and make it worth your time and effor.

oh...so for a vinyl recover without the plastic vents, i'd be looking at $750 out the door? would that price include fixing up any cracks that might be in the dash? or would dash repair be extra? Thank you very much for your patience in answering my questions

Are you still going to be willing to the oringinal vents? I am definetely going to do a dash once I find a steady job. You do awesome work and I would love to have my enitre upper and lower dash redone, but I for one like the original vent. Thanks and I know everyone thinks that you are doing a great dead for the mark.

Yes. 750 would be the cost for an early version dash with the original vents or plastic inserts. That would be after a prototype is made.

At issue is the time and cost of making the first prototype.
It will take 2-3 days of measuring, cutting, sewing and fitting. And another 2-3 days of trimming the switch recesses, ac vent openings, repairing cracks, adding padding, and final trimming. Along the way, adjustments and redesigning will be necessary to come up with a pattern. In addition, there's several yards of leather and vinyl needed.
Its a question of logistics and resources.

Yes I will still do the original style vents although I dread doing it. It takes a long time to get it right.

I have been following the dash kits for a while now and it looks like they are still going through final revisions. When they get down to a solid standard I would be happy to put them up on Rennbay, if you want.

I saw them up at the Fest in person this year and they are top quality for anyone interested.

Getting the car running good is more important than looking good right now, but I really hope to be able to get one of these in a few months. I think the modified vents look great, but I still like the orginal. My question is, if the original vents are more work, why is it the same price for the modified vents.

I simply cover my dash with Pictures of Sid Viscous and Travis from Rennbay..

Man, I'd LOVE a new dash for the 924s, but as it's a daily driver anything that doesnt translate into drivability gets put on the far back burner.

These are GORGEOUS! Keep up the good work Rob!

x2!

I might be able to swing one this winter(maybe sooner if I get my S2 project completed or find a dash at the junkyard that is worth this beautiful work). My daily driver would love to get some of that attention.

You do some great work Rob! Don't let the slow sales in the beginning discourage you, it will get better!

if any of you are on the fence about the dash cover, add me to the "OMFG it looks awesome!" group.

I saw gregeast's car at a local GTG, and that dash is stunning.

I'd be putting one on my car if I wasn't restricted budgetarily.
