Thanks to Roger for putting on a great BBQ, Arash for planning the run and Ashkan the official photographer!

In a way, I'm happy the Nikon's battery was dead. Our Fuji is smaller, and ligher, so I was able to flip the camera around quickly if I saw a good shot about to happen. Besides, I felt like I was going to drop the cam on I-5 a couple of times, just from the sheer speed of the wind. I guess if I ever get a chance to use the Nikon, I won't hold it out so far.
Thanks to everyone for everything. There, easist 'thank you' speech ever.

Good camera skills guys! Atleast I can check in here and see what I missed yesturday.
It was great meeting everyone and hopefully I can make the next get together. Roger, thanks for hosting the BBQ - the food was great.

Thank you everyone for showing up to my first run! I had an absolutely great time hanging out, chatting, eating delicious carne asada, and of course driving!
Thanks to Roger and Patty for their hospitality and tasty food. And thanks Roger for letting me test drive your car! I'm sorry at first I revved it too high - I'm not used to boost. But I swear I'm getting a turbo. Maybe a 951 engine for my 968, or if I can find a 2.7 head for my 3.0 engine, but by whatever means I will have boost.
Thanks to Chris for suggesting the roads. Redwood rd was interesting with all the cyclists we almost killed, and Hamilton rd was weird with that 350Z and the granny driving the corvette, but I still had fun. I said Hamilton rd was awesome because of all the switchbacks, not the pavement. Mines rd has better pavement and an unpredictable combo of switchbacks and sweepers, so it's too bad we had to skip it. At least Colby got to do it though.
Thanks to Ashkan for the pics!

Oh, and Nicole, you're right I should have cross-posted! Oh well, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing and I just didn't think about it. Next time I will for sure - 928s rock!
I'll be there at the go kart shindig. I don't know if I'll race, but I want to be there to meet shark owners.

Man the pics are great. I never know that Mt. Hamilton Road climbed like that...great switchbacks. I could almost smell the carne asada from here. Glad to see everyone 'else' could make it and there were no issues. Which pics in Ashkan's link were taken on Mines Road? Sorry I couldn't make it but I didn't have a working NA to bring anyway. I can't believe the solenoid came completely off a rebuilt starter like that; so much for cheap labor and the absence of Loktite.

Sorry Steve, but we didn't go down Mines rd. We went to I-5 via Del Puerto, but the road was poorly paved, and we didn't want to go at it a second time, so we just took 5 up to Tracy to Roger's.
Oh, and I tried not to take too many photos going up Mt Hamilton b/c I didn't want to encourage the driver of the 350Z

That friggin 350Z. This was the 3rd run-in I've had with one. I'm never looking to play or race or anything - I just like speeding and going fast in winding roads, for my own fun. WTH? Is there a page in the 350Z brochure that says they are great for fighting 944s?
There was a series of HUGE lumps in the middle of the road on Del Puerto, big enough to scrape my oil pan. It sounded HORRIBLE, but luckily the damage is only superficial. If I had a batwing, I would have lost it though. People on the run thought it was dumb to take Del Puerto to 5 and then just double back to take Mines, and I think they were just hungry, so we just took 5 the rest of the way to the bbq.
Damnit Roger. Why? Just because I asked to drive your car didn't mean you should have let me. Now I want a turbo. Well I guess what I actually want is hp. Either way, I'm about to lose a bunch of money.

Yes, why'd you let him drive it? He talks to me about it about as often as I talk to him about that Yellow VR6 Golf. Man, I now know how boring it is to listen to the same details OVER, and OVER, and OVER................

Great run guys! Thanks to the planning crew (Arash & Chris), official photographer (Ashkan), and of course the host/hostess (Roger & Patty). I had fun, even if I drove like a granny at the rear of the pack.

Next time I'll hang in the back too... Sometimes going fast doesn't let you enjoy the scenery, and of course there's always the risk of wrecking. Plus for some reason I'm usually more comfy following than leading.
The dark side is the quick and easy path. A 951 is quick, but not easy. There's a large gray zone between light and dark where Porsches are located. Would a chevy 350 conversion be closer to light or dark?
