Matt. Thinking that. Was trying to avoid driving with tire next to me but that might be the way to go. (Maybe u could just jockey one of my tires back and forth. If your back os ok that is).

Jon - sucks about clutch and no more autocrossing. Hope u get it worked out and could make it.

If the seat is still off take a picture of the underside of it.

Bracket is off. Tried it but it won't work from the back.

Why cant you hang the bottle under the bar, camera mount on top? Use conduit hangers.

It's designed to brace fore and aft not suspend that much weight vertically.

I built a bracket to mount mine behind the passenger seat. It lets the seat have full movement and I can still grab it from the drivers seat. I don't know if you'd be able to get to it with a propper harness though.

I can post a pic later if anyone wants to see it.

3 bolts through the floor works.

I can't reach it while strapped in, but finding a spot to mount it in reach while strapped in is nearly impossible. If your sanctioning body requires it be reachable, then fine. However, if the car's on fire, I'm getting my *** out of the car, I'm not going to be farting around with the fire extinguisher with my belts on.

Silly rule IMO. A fire suppression system is a much more logical requirement than a reachable fire extinguisher.

Anyway, don't know if this helps at all but here's a pic of mine:

I'm thinking, could you mount the bottle on the underside of the bar close to the camera mount?
The camera mount has 4 screws which protrude down under the bar about 2 inches or so. Can't get the bottle under there.

9 times out of ten the extinguisher you carry won't be used for your car.

That supports my statement that it's a silly rule to require that the FE be mounted in such a position as to be reachable by the driver while fully belted in. Why "while fully belted in?" What's the point of that? In case your car is on fire and your belts fail to release? Do belts fail to release?

My apologies for steering this OT.

Here are a couple shots of my behind the seat mount. I tested it out and I can easily reach it when I'm in the seat. It's easier if I flip up the passenger seat of course, but still reachable with it in the normal possition.

I used aluminium strips rather then steal since they are easier to bend to the floors contours. I bolted it under the seat rails, but had to get 4 longer bolts to make up for the additional metal between the rail and the floor board.
