I drove the car today and all of a sudden when I put it in 4th gear it popped out and if u tried to hold it in the 4th it'd hold for a bit and then u felt the **** pop back at you and try to put it back in and it'll make a grindin noise. Im really worried, should i drive the car anymore? I have to take it for a couple estimates for body work on monday. From time to time i sometime would hear a "POP" noise coming from somewhere in the engine bay. I ignored it thinking it wasn't anything, maybe that has some relation? I have another car to use and just starting last week shes been driven almost every day, short trips though. Nothing crazy. going from 3rd to 5th is really bad and im afraid the other gears will do the same soon. What should I do? Any ideas on what it could be?
(its a 1984 944N/A with 81k on it and the original clutch)
