Default 88 944 Celebration edition

I have a chance to buy a 88 celebration edition (m757) the guy doesnt know it is a celebration edition either. It has 109,000 mi. on it and it runs great, but the interior needs some work. it has brand new tires, new water pump, and the timing was just done. he wants $4,500USD FIRM.
How much are these cars worth?

I haven't observed where they are worth anymore than a plain 88. Don't they have a unique interior color?

Aren't they all black with the light grey plaid like interior? A friend of mine who sells cars for a living had one a few months ago, I don't think it sold for a whole lot more then a normal 944 but I think it is also because most people don't really know there is anything different about them. It was a pretty neat car and I thought about picking it up since it was a clean example but decided not to.

it is mechanically sound but there are alot of little things wrong with the interior: missing vent slide, ripped front and rear seats, non original floor mats, hatch rattles BAD,passenger seat feels a little loose, cassette holder is broken, climate control slider **** missing. The things wrong mechanically are: bad brake pad sensors, non functioning e brake, rear wiper doesnt function and takes a quart of oil btwn oil changes. There are also alot of scratches in the paint and a couple small dents.

Im just wondering if i were to buy it and fix it up how much would it be worth being one of only 250 in the US

I wouldn't do it to try to make to money on it. It really doesn't command much of a premium. How are you going to convince a potential buyer to pay extra for "rare funky plaid"? Plus, the seats are ripped -- and you can't get replacement funky plaid fabric. Buy it and fix it only if YOU want something special that only other 944 enthusiasts would appreciate.

Not to mention if the interior has been neglected that badly, I bet the mechanicals can't be too good. New parts don't make up for 18 years of neglect! PASS!

PS--Hey Josh, we have almost twin cars--you have 17" CupII's though?

I disagree about new parts fixing years of neglect...

new parts alone won't fix it, but new parts, lots of love and even more money will!

...and that's why I have a folder labelled "924 Receipts (Do not tally near sharp objects, pills, rope, etc)"

I hear ya. I meant that judging from the neglect inside, I assume it wasn't owned by an enthusiast that kept all records, etc ! 4 new tires on a wreck doesn't make it "fixed"!
