Help With Buying New Srprings
Ok, so I'm all moved into the new house in Tucson, but I have a problem with my driveway. I have to back out very very slowly and apply the brakes several times while rolling down the stupid rolled curb at the end of the driveway becasause there are several bumps that I will get stuck on if i hit the brakes just once. Its very annoying that I have to hit the brakes, then bump the gas and immediately hit the brakes again to prevent scraping my front spoiler.
For the past few months I have been setting a little bit of money aside inorder to buy new springs all the way around. The problem I'm running into is that I want to go with 250 lbs up front and 28mm T-bars , but everywhere I find 250 pounders, they are also 1.25" drop springs. It looks like the stiffest I can get up front with stock ride height is 220#. Don't get me wrong, I would love to lower the car a tad, but I don't think I would be able to park in my driveway if I did that.
Now my question is, should I risk lowering it 1.25 inches? I may be dragging the front end becasue the factory springs are tired, but 1.25 is a lot, I don't think I even have that much clearance when I creep down the driveway.
Or my other alternitive is to go 220# front and still use 250# in the rear, or is this WAY too much oversteer? I am planning to primarilly use it for street and Auto-X, and some track use in the future, but it is also going to continue to be my daily driver for about another 6 months. I am looking to have just a wee-bit of oversteer, but since it will be mostly a street car, I spose I can settle with a neutral set-up. Any suggestions? Oh and my car is an 84 944 incase your wondering.
